1Accepting these Terms
By downloading, installing or using the StepCivics app (“StepCivics” or “the app”) or this website, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use StepCivics.
StepCivics is operated by D&B Evergreen Adventures LLC (“we”, “our” or “us”), a company registered in the State of Washington, USA.
StepCivics is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security or any government agency. We are an independent company.
2What StepCivics does
- Teaches the 128 questions and answers of the 2025 civics test, from USCIS’s official list
- Offers flashcards, practice by section, weak questions, a readiness score and mock tests
- Helps you practice for the English reading, writing and speaking test
- Shows the answers that change for your state and ZIP code (Premium)
- Reads questions and answers aloud (Premium) and offers tools about the N-400
- Backs up your progress, if you choose to sign in
StepCivics is free to download and use. The free version shows non-personalized ads from Google AdMob. We don’t choose individual ads or endorse what they advertise.
4Who can use StepCivics
You must be at least 13 years old to use StepCivics. If you’re under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you.
5A study aid, not a guarantee
StepCivics helps you study. It cannot guarantee that you’ll pass the civics test, the English test or your naturalization interview, or that USCIS will approve your application. Your result depends on you, the officer and USCIS’s rules.
Readiness scores, mock test results, eligibility checks and filing dates are practice tools and estimates, not predictions or decisions.
6Check with USCIS
Some answers change with elections and appointments, and USCIS can change the test, its questions or its rules at any time. We work to keep StepCivics current, but we can’t guarantee that every answer is up to date on the day of your interview.
Before your interview, check uscis.gov/citizenship/testupdates. Your USCIS notices and uscis.gov are the official word.
7No legal advice
StepCivics does not provide legal advice. We are not attorneys, and nothing in StepCivics creates an attorney-client relationship. For advice about your eligibility or your case, talk to a licensed immigration attorney or a representative accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice. Be careful with any ad that offers immigration services.
8Translations and recordings
The civics questions and answers come from USCIS and are a U.S. government work. The translations, audio recordings, practice sentences and other study materials in StepCivics are ours.
Translations are unofficial. The officer asks in English, and if a translation differs from USCIS’s English, the English applies.
9What you agree not to do
- Use StepCivics for any illegal purpose
- Copy, resell or redistribute StepCivics, its translations or its recordings
- Reverse engineer or tamper with the app, except where the law allows it
- Overload our servers, or reach them other than through the app or this website
- Present StepCivics as an official USCIS or government service
10No warranties
StepCivics is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors or that its content is complete or current.
11Limitation of liability
We are not responsible for the outcome of your test, interview or application, or for decisions you make based on StepCivics. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims will not exceed the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid for Premium, and we won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
12Your progress and backups
Your progress is saved on your phone. Without a backup, it’s gone when you delete the app or lose your phone. Sign in to back it up. We aren’t responsible for lost progress.
13Other services and app stores
StepCivics uses services from Apple, Google (including Firebase and AdMob), Cloudflare and Expo, each under its own terms, and links to outside websites such as uscis.gov, which we don’t control.
These Terms are between you and D&B Evergreen Adventures LLC, not Apple or Google. You must also follow the terms of the store you got StepCivics from, including Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement where it applies. We, not Apple, are responsible for StepCivics, its support and any claims about it, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms.
14Intellectual property
StepCivics, including its name, logo, design, code, translations and recordings (but not USCIS’s questions and answers), belongs to D&B Evergreen Adventures LLC. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use StepCivics on devices you own or control.
15Changes to StepCivics and these Terms
We update StepCivics to fix problems, add features and keep its answers current. When we change these Terms, the new version gets a new effective date and a short summary, and StepCivics asks you to accept it in the app before it applies to you.
16Ending your use
You can stop using StepCivics at any time, and delete your account if you have one. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or the law requires it. If we stop offering StepCivics, we’ll tell you in the app first.
17Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Washington. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@stepcivics.app and try to resolve it informally. Disputes we can’t resolve that way go to binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association’s rules, except small claims, and not as part of a class action.
